FANOUS FLOWER

Inspired by the geometry of the traditional Fanous lantern, this suspended structure reimagines ornament which is no longer applied to a surface but emerges through motion itself.
Constructed from a series of flat metal bars, the kaleidocyclic assembly translates geometric principles into a lightweight spatial form. A motorised mechanism drives the continuous rotation of the cycle, allowing the interconnected elements to unfold and transform in a seamless sequence of movement. Suspended from the ceiling, the structure occupies the space above the observer, establishing a dynamic relationship between object, motion, and perception.

The geometry of the traditional Fanous Lamp gave rise to an idea.
The Kaleidocycle is the geometric voice of the reinvented lamp that speaks with motion.

A mechanism allows the panels to revolve along a continuous
path, driven by their tangential connections.
Light bends and disperses on textured doublecurved panels. Light becomes a moving atmosphere.

Delicate double-curved panels form revolving wings that continuously transform the objectโs appearance, revealing shifting patterns and moments of wonder. Suspended above the observer, the kaleidocyclic form becomes an immersive experience of symmetry, motion and transformation, where ornament emerges not from only decoration but from movement itself.
Suspended from the ceiling, the structure occupies the space above the observer with a quiet yet constantly changing presence. Its textured surfaces catch and diffuse light, revealing a landscape of shifting contours that evolves through movement. Lightweight components, articulated by exposed hinges and slender connections, allow the installation to remain in continuous motion, creating an experience that changes with every viewpoint and every passage beneath it.
